How do I add a video to my Google business listing?
It’s your Google listing that appears first when someone searches for your company or a service you offer. Adding a video to your Google listing gives you an extra edge. It’s the key to optimizing your search engine optimization!
So adding a video testimonial can help you attract and, above all, reassure potential new customers. This will help you stand out from the crowd 🙂
In this article, we explain step by step how to get started.
Step 1: Prepare the video for your Google listing
You can share videos of up to 30 seconds on your Google listing. Before starting the tutorial, you’ll need to prepare a video testimonial extract. For example, an answer to a question
Please note that there are strict requirements for the video format:
– Length: up to 30 seconds
– File size: up to 75 MB
– Resolution: at least 720p
So if you don’t meet the technical requirements, your video file will be rejected. To the best of our knowledge, there is currently no tool that automatically formats videos to meet Google’s requirements.
Step 2: Connect to your Google listing
Log in to your google account to manage your company details. Then type your company name into Google and you’ll find all the action buttons for managing your listing. Then click on “add a photo”.
Step 3: Import a video
In the window that appears, click on “Photo” and then import your video file. However, the latter must comply with Google’s conditions. You can consult the conditions at this address.
Step 4: Putting the video online
Once you’ve imported your file, you need to wait for Google to process it. It usually takes just a few minutes for the video to appear on your company page. If your file doesn’t meet the prerequisites, you won’t be notified by e-mail. The file will simply be “in process”. So if it doesn’t work after a few hours, be sure to check your file.
Here are the 3 possible statuses once you have imported your file:
– Pending: the multimedia item is currently being imported or processed, or your file has not yet been validated. Pending multimedia items are not displayed in Google search or Maps.
– Not approved: the multimedia item has been flagged as not conforming to our rules. As a result, it does not appear in Google search or on Maps.
– Online: the multimedia item is displayed in Google search and on Maps.
At the moment, it’s quite limited in terms of video length. Before, you could import 1min30 of video. Let’s hope Google changes its mind and relaxes the restrictions.
It’s a new opportunity to optimize your Google listing and stand out from the competition thanks to video. At present, we can only hope that Google will push this functionality further in the future and make it a new SEO criterion.
